Life and working

Sometimes life gets in the way of work and sometimes work gets in the way of life. Life is more important so following on from two family bereavements last year, I have made some changes to my work.

I finished working at the Cathedral at the end of September after having been there for six months. I enjoyed some of it and other parts were more difficult. It’s definitely an interesting place to work and the location and building are unique. But I don’t think it worked for me, a bit square peg-ish.

I did have the opportunity of a customer service role at the university museums but unfortunately it fell at a difficult bereavement time so wasn’t feasible.

I’m still working at Durham county libraries – at Clayport Library in the city centre. I enjoy it and find the work interesting. And the people who work there are nice and friendly. It does feel like you’re providing a useful service. It’s casual hours which is fine although if anything more permanent came up, it would be good.

I’ve done one session of exam invigilating this month and there will be more later in the year.

I’m still continuing with my online book store and although it is not making much money, I enjoy doing it.
