Saturday in the Library

Working today, Saturday. It’s a different vibe on a Saturday and today has been busy with children and families. Lots of people have been returning books today as it is the last day of the school holidays. There are no specific events on today but we still have the treasure hunt for ‘lost lambs’ which has been very popular and Easter related colouring in sheets and butterflies to colour in for the display.

I’ve been on the main desk on the ground floor today so most of the tasks are issuing, returning and renewing books. Dealing with reservations – either looking in the catalogue for books or fulfilling reservations and issuing the books. Answering enquiries – either where to find books and resources or finding information .

We have also had at least 6 people joining the library today – some teenagers, some people who have just moved to the area including a Ukrainian family. I don’t know where people get the idea that libraries are not popular or not wanted or needed, people of all ages are always wanting to browse and borrow books – it’s a good thing. Some people have been a member of the library for years and years and some are relatively new. It’s good to see children of all ages choosing the books they want to read.
